Anniversary vs. Birthday

As a family sat across the dining table, the daughter opened up the topic.

Daughter: "Mom, your 60th birthday is nearing. And we also have another special occasion coming up in six months time - your 40th wedding anniversary". She looks up at her Dad who is still reading his paper and continued, "The thing is, we would like to have a grand celebration but we don't have budget for two events.

Mom: "So you want to know which one to celebrate - the birthday or the anniversary?" She looks across the table to her daughter. And then to her son in law who nods sheepishly.

Mom: "I would prefer to wait six months for the celebration".

Dad has now put his paper down and helps himself to a serving, his ears clearly interested.

"Collaboration is harder, but more rewarding", the mom concluded with a smile.
