Where is the grass greener?

As the old saying goes - the grass is greener on the other side - this is the ever present dilemma in your work life. Those who are in jobs believe they should be in their own business and those who own a small business wish they had a steady job.

For those who have ventured to the other side, know that this is not true. Both sides have an equal measure of highs and lows. One brings structure, stability and balance but also people, their agendas and large doses of unproductive time. The other brings the opportunity to practice your craft, more meaningful time spent and broader work experiences but life is always on the edge and there is no switch off button.

So then, where is the grass greener?

The answer to this is simply by asking yourself - who is it that you really are? As there are trade-offs on both sides, which is the trade-off you are more comfortable with? The grass will always feel greener here.
